Quality - Safety

Joint Commission Accreditation

By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety, Apalachee Center, Inc has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval.
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's healthcare through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced on-site survey of Apalachee Center, Inc in August, 2008.
In becoming accredited, Apalachee Center, Inc was evaluated against a set of national standards by a Joint Commission survey team experienced in the delivery of behavioral health care services. Achieving accreditation demonstrates Apalachee Center's commitment to providing safe, high quality care.

2009 National Patient Safety Goals

The Joint Commission established National Patient Safety Goals in 2002 to help accredited organizations target critical areas where safety can be improved. All Joint Commission accredited healthcare organization's are surveyed for compliance with the requirements of the goals. The National Patient Safety Goals are re-evaluated every year with Joint Commission continuing some, replacing some and adding new ones as priorities change. Apalachee Center's compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals was validated by the Joint Commission in 2008. Safety

At Apalachee we take a team approach to Safety. All staff have a role in making healthcare safe, including psychiatrists, nurses, recovery specialists, and mental health assistants. You play a vital role in making your care safe by becoming an active, involved and informed member of your healthcare team. We welcome your involvement and feedback as it is our goal to keep you safe and healthy. Please let staff know if you have any suggestions for improving our care and services.

We have been accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Services (JC) since 1981, and as such, have adopted the JC National Patient Safety Goals and recommendations. Our commitment to quality and safety extends to our clients and their families, as well as to visitors and staff.
