Psychiatric Evaluation, Medication and Case Management

These services are provided at each Outpatient Clinic for those who are involved with the Judicial System. Apalachee Center provides psychiatric services to the county jails in six of our eight counties and case management services to all eight county jails. Recovery Specialists work closely with the courts as liaisons between defendants with mental health diagnosis and the judicial system.

Continuity of Care

Continuity of care is provided to the defendant with a mental health diagnosis. Forensic Case Managers work with our State Treatment Facilities, Department of Corrections and jails in planning for the defendant's re-entry into the community. The goal is for seamless provision of mental health services to the individual returning to the community setting so that recidivism is reduced and recovery is successful.

Competency Restoration Training

Competency Restoration training is provided in all eight counties, both in the jails and at the Outpatient Clinics, to defendants who are Incompetent to Proceed. Competency Restoration training is designed to help the defendant successfully complete their judicial proceedings. The areas of training include: appreciation of the charges; appreciation of possible penalties; understanding the legal process; improve their capacity to work with the attorney and disclose information; improve their capacity for appropriate courtroom behavior; and develop the capacity to testify relevantly.
